Before and Afters

Smile Showcase
Double jaw surgery for better breathing and better esthetics. Note the position of the lower jaw at the finish, horizontally and vertically, and the correction of overbite and overjet.
Invisalign was used on the upper teeth and braces on the lower teeth to align the teeth before orthognathic surgery was performed to improve their airway.
Orthodontics and orthognathic surgery was done to correct excessive overjet and address sleep apnea and airway issues after surgically advancing the maxilla and the mandible.
This excessive overjet and overbite was corrected by guiding mandibular growth with Phase 1 and Phase 2 of orthodontics.
Phase I orthodontics using maxillary expansion to restore skeletal symmetry followed by Phase II orthodontics using clear aligners.
Open Bite: this amazing patient addressed her periodontal (gum) issues and habit disruption first, before achieving this remarkable smile!
Gentle arch development created this smile while preserving facial proportions, facial profile, smile arc and space for tongue posture.

My experience with Dr. Taliwal and her team over the past 2 years has been superb. Dr. Taliwal is incredibly knowledgeable, highly skilled, and most importantly caring. She's gone beyond just granting me a great smile, but also peace of mind throughout my invisalign and jaw surgery journey. I'm forever grateful for to them for changing my life for the better.
I just finished my Invisalign with Dr Taliwal after two years! This office was a great choice for getting Invisalign! Dr Taliwal was always very friendly and focused about what we wanted to achieve. Looking back I am glad I went to Dr Taliwal and I really enjoy the new smile she helped to get!
I think Dr. Taliwal is FANTASTIC. Both of my sons see her and the progress with their teeth is fantastic.  She is thorough, technically knows her "stuff" and more than that, she is very human, easy to approach and has always gotten back to me, if I have had a question.  I couldn't be more enthusiastic and highly recommend her to anyone needing braces.
Dr. Taliwal is terrific! She was recommended to me by a dentist for Invisalign. She made the process incredibly seamless, painless, and easy. Now my teeth look great! The staff are all very friendly and prompt about scheduling follow-up appointments. The office is clean and welcoming. I would recommend to anyone!
I love my teeth!! What a wonderful experience!  I arrived just one year ago at Dr Taliwal's office with teeth that were crooked my whole life.  Just one year later they are straighter than I ever believed possible. I couldn’t be happier. Her expertise is unmatched! I highly recommend that you make an appointment with her.
My experience with the Invisalign process was terrific. Dr. Taliwal and her extremely pleasant team were able to give me my smile back.  The process was so great and not painful that I would recommend going to Metrodontics.  I wish I had gone sooner but still I am glad I did it anyway.

FAQ

Questions
At what age should my child first visit an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. However, orthodontic treatment can be beneficial at any age.

How long does orthodontic treatment typically last?

Treatment time varies depending on individual needs, but most patients wear braces for 18-24 months. Some cases may be shorter or longer based on complexity.

Do braces hurt?

While braces don't hurt during application, you may experience some soreness for a few days after getting them and after adjustment appointments. This discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

What's the difference between traditional braces and Invisalign?

Traditional braces use metal brackets and wires to move teeth, while Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners.

What foods should I avoid with braces?

You should avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods that could damage braces, such as: hard candies, popcorn, nuts, chewy candies, hard pretzels, whole apples (unless cut into small pieces).

What should I do if a wire breaks or a bracket comes loose?

Contact our office immediately to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, if a wire is poking you, use orthodontic wax (provided in your starter kit) to cover it. Never try to fix broken brackets or wires yourself.

How do I clean my teeth properly with braces?

Brush after every meal using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Use floss threaders or water flossers daily to clean between brackets and under wires. We'll demonstrate proper cleaning techniques during your appointments.
